thank you and farewell

Note: This was written late June...I never posted it because it took me forever to get the photos from fatboy :P

I am officially unemployed!

Last Monday was my last day of work at Shin***. I've spent 1.5 years with the company and yea, it's a tad too long base on my initial plans for myself. It feels weird to wake up without a job you know? All this time, I had something to do, some form of constancy, and now it's gone.

My "family" (self-proclaimed relatives of mine...haha) at site organized a farewell BBQ for me on Friday. Fei Zai drove in from JB, so Chew, Ah Wai and I were driven around Singapore the entire day. First off, it was to Tampines to get the food, then Katong to get the satay and finally to one of the fish farms in Sungei Buloh to get the seafood. Too bad the live fishes were sold out :/ BBQ was a simple affair on site with improvisations, like the use of the blow torch to heat up the charcoals, using the electric blower to fan the flames, etc. Haha

I'm sad. The part of me that loves routine isn't all that willing to let go. Despite the relative short time on site (6 months), and being the lone female, I had gotten swimmingly well with everyone. Yes I got teased a lot due to my poor understanding of the Chinese language and my name (chan ping, chocolate, cha-lot-tee, sleeping beauty, just to name a few) but I know at the end of the day, these are a bunch of people you can rely on.

I'll definitely be missing my kopi sessions and the impromptu visits to the fish farms. Life on was bearable because of them!

To Chew: Thank you for treating me like a daughter. Although you're always making fun of my sleeping habits, I forgive you. HAHA. You kept me entertained with your stories and I've learnt a lot from you :)

To Ah Wai & Fei Zai: I doubt you guys will read this. One doesn't go online and the other can't read. But thank you for letting me join in your fun :)

To the turtle: All the best in your future endeavours! I think I still owe you a couple of beers. haha

To Lemon: Sometimes I feel quite bad that I'm not of much help to you on site, but those times are rare and fleeting. Please forgive me. Hehe.

To Clifton: You have the honor of being the most vulgarity-spewing person I know. We'll catch up over squash soon...promise!

To Ah Boon: It was nice knowing you and I wish you all the best :)

Last but not least, to Ah Leo: Thanks for listening :) Keep in touch!
