i've got some ball sense

As part of my "Self Holistic Improvement Training" program or S.H.I.T. for short, I've taken up tennis lessons. Why now? It's not the love of the game that has driven me pick it up, rather, it's the circumstances. NO ONE PLAYS SQUASH! I've got no squash buddy! :( Plus, booking badminton courts for peak hours is a bitch - my colleagues can testify to my frustration when I'm unable to book courts for our "Clash of the Titans" matches. So there you have it. It's purely circumstantial.

I had my first lesson yesterday evening at the club. I felt like a fish out of water. You'd feel the same if you didn't know anyone at all and your fellow course mates just barely reach your hips. Yes, I'm the only one (there are 4 of us) who has the PSLE (Primary School Leaving Examination) certification! But I took it all in - who says learning a new thing was easy huh? They were really adorable though :)

Looking back now, I sort of regret not picking it up during my secondary school days. Oh, why was I too lazy to queue for the tennis try-outs? I still remember that day, we all had a chance to try out which ECAs we wanted to join. It was hot and I had to choose between standing under the hot sun to try my hand out at tennis or enjoy the shade of the squash courts. I chose the latter. And well, I did make it to the team during my JC days - vice captain some more wor...hehe but wasn't totally satisfied with my level of play.

I think I'll continue to pursue tennis for now. Feel so old liao, quite difficult to get a hang of the new grip and swinging style, but Coach Woon is a patient old man who is very encouraging, so I guess it'll make my learning process a lot easier and less pressurizing.

Thanks IB for your generousity with your racquet! And yes I will accede to your repeated requests not to scratch/break/destroy it la :P
